Designed for workers exposed to arc-flash and flame hazards in cold environments, the Pioneer C304 Flame-Gard® Balaclava provides protective coverage for the head, face and neck. Its inherently flame-resistant and arc-rated double-layer construction delivers an ATPV rating of 40 cal/cm² and ARC 4 protection, while the soft material, elastic face opening and extended neck provide comfortable coverage throughout the workday.

Fit and Use

The flexible one-size design is intended to provide comfortable coverage around the head, face and neck.

  • Positioning: Pull the balaclava over the head and position the elastic opening so the eyes and required facial area remain unobstructed.
  • Neck Coverage: Extend the long neck section beneath the protective garment to reduce exposed skin around the neck and collar.
  • Side Slit: Position the side slit so the lower section sits comfortably without bunching or restricting normal head movement.
  • Compatibility: Confirm that the balaclava does not interfere with the proper fit or operation of helmets, face shields, hearing protection or respiratory equipment.
  • Inspection: Inspect the balaclava before each use and remove it from service if it is torn, contaminated or otherwise damaged.
